As mentioned before, there is a cure for lycanthropy -- but it only works within the first hour, before all your cells have started changing.  (The curse takes hold like a fast-acting poison.)  Within a day, you can still keep the curse at bay by creating a wolfsbane pendant specifically tuned to your body, but after that, you're unavoidably a werewolf.  Albert's been . . . reasonably intelligent enough to remember not to get the wolfsbane pendant wet up to this point, but he was bound to mess up eventually.
