Of course, some people of Aylia's world do know about the existence of ours -- but that knowledge is more of a dim rumor than a catalogued scientific fact.  Of course, as time passes, knowledge and curiosity about it among various people increase, and the time will doubtless eventually come when the secret leaks through to the people of our world in more than just trickles.  But people like Aylia's father would prefer it if that time is delayed until both worlds are ready for the consequences.
