When I first started this comic strip, I assumed that humans from our world couldn't do magic, just like Loretta.  But after a few years of worldbuilding, I came to the decision that that would make little sense -- humans from our world are just like humans from Aylia's world in every other way.  So I realized the reason magic isn't common here would be a combination of two factors: a cultural lack of belief in it, and a lack of records on how to make it work.  Aylia was wrong.
