Because Felincia doesn't generally eat the same food as the other roommates, she wouldn't catch on to a lot of the names for things the others would use without thinking (such as "chips" or "soda").  That, and she just plain doesn't care enough to bother learning their names, since she never eats them -- kind of like the way most Western people would call "takoyaki" something like "that fried-octopus stuff," unless they eat at Japanese restaurants regularly.  Food really does vary a lot from culture to culture.
