I enjoy the implication set up by the middle two panels of this strip: that Daria will not refrain from showing her machine to the whole class, even though they're trying to take their midterms!  (Giggle.)  Of course, Daria didn't mean to infer anything in particular -- she just treated her professor's answer as if it had been an enthusiastic guess, rather than a sardonic response.  Eric really is a useful friend for Daria to have -- he's teaching her a lot about engineering!  (Which, yes, is something to flee in terror about.)
