Linnea, being a very practical person, would be interested in learning spells like translation magic, especially since she knows from experience how well it can work.  And since she's Aylia's friend, of course Aylia would be the one to teach her magic.  Eric, on the other hand, is Daria's friend, and Eric and Daria are . . . a dangerous combination.  (Grin.)  It makes sense that Daria would volunteer to teach him while Aylia teaches Linnea, thus instilling nervousness in everyone around them.
