"That guy from the medieval club" is Jacob, who's asked Loretta out on one date, a date they both had fun with.  Still, she's had fun on other dates too, so she hardly feels like there's commitment.  This attitude is inconceivable to Aylia -- she's the kind of person who does not form attachments easily, so when she does, it's very hard for her to let go.  The idea of casual dating is bizarre to her at best, repulsive to her at worst.  She just doesn't get the appeal.
