It isn't like Aylia was looking to pick a fight with Linnea, but she was hoping for at least some sort of reaction about her assumptions being disproven -- perhaps one that would allow Aylia to gloat or say "I told you so," for example.  But Linnea doesn't tend to show her emotions a lot.  She did react with shock and astonishment while in class, but Aylia wasn't there to see it, so she missed out.  Linnea doesn't change her mind very often, but when she does, it's decisive, quick, and thorough.
