When I showed this strip to one of my friends, she collapsed laughing, which I considered to be a good sign.  The "gadgets book" Daria's professor loaned her is no doubt a copy of their class textbook, since he was bound to have one of those on hand, and he figures she could really use one.  By the way, the reason the medieval club meeting Loretta's going to is the "third one" is because this is the beginning of the third week of classes, and the club meeting is held near the start of each week .
