Now that X's family secrets are out in the open, at least as far as her roommates are concerned, their father would see no reason to go to the effort to do things normally, such as driving down to their school and picking them up.  He would love to have his daughters study magic openly, and it's a constant source of disappointment to him that Alexis just wants to be normal.  After all, he and his wife use magic at home all the time, when they're sure no neighbors are watching!
