Oh, one other thing I ought to mention: Oracles and Sages are always human.  There are a number of reasons for that, and I'm not going to go into them here, since I'm sure I'll explain them in the strip itself eventually.  But what they boil down to is this: every sentient species has some magical talent or type of magic it can do that the others can't.  Oracles and Sages represent that in the human race.
