For a brief period of time, I considered making him Loretta's brother, but I soon disregarded that as ridiculous, in part because I couldn't see them growing up in the same family, and in part that would be just too ridiculously coincidental.  Besides, if that were the case, it would have had to come out long before now.  So, yeah, that idea didn't work at all.  But their relationship is sort of like brother and sister . . . they seem to see each other as honorary family, so to speak.
