I have to admit, this revelation also pleased me, because I've been trying to make the mother figures more distinct from each other recently, especially overtly.  Elsseran is very different from Tilia, for instance, and yet the only side of her personality we've really seen currently is one that seems rather similar -- "strong and competent," essentially.  Elsseran is actually quite "live and let live," where Tilia tends to be very uptight and intent on planning everything; in many ways, they're complete opposites.
