Why, yes, Alassa is extremely stupid to have not considered transportation magic as a solution to the problem of the guarded door . . . what was your first clue?  And then there's the factor of all the people in the banqueting hall -- what good does it do to get into a party, just to have all the guests order you to get lost again?  At least Counselor Tranin is probably acting on the assumption that the Oracle can be bullied into letting her stay -- Alassa's brain hasn't yet engaged in thinking past the short-term.
