There had to be consequences to Daria skipping so many classes at the beginning of the semester.  But those consequences -- failling any class with a strict participation requirement -- don't matter to her.  She's at this school to learn, after all, not to get told how well she's learning, and the idea of stressing out over grades (or, well, just about anything) is completely alien to her.  And of course having Aylia to explain the system to her wouldn't change that -- Aylia doesn't have much respect for grades herself!
