This storyline should give you a few hints about what Felincia's native language is like.  For instance, Lower Daynian does use phonetic symbols in writing, just like many European languages do.  They look nothing like the ones we use in English, though (I doubt I'll ever use any of them in the strip, but I do have a vague idea of what they look like in my head -- more Arabic-looking than Roman-looking, if that makes sense).  And children's books are, of course, fantastic for learning to read new languages.
