Yes, those are buttons Daria added to her hat, probably from the stack of buttons she was playing with earlier.  And yes, those are springs on her hat, probably components from their late refrigerator.  Oh, and yes, that big black stone in the middle of it all was originally attached to the pendant Aylia gave her, which is why the hat actually does work.  It's probably a good thing Daria gets distracted before she can completely overburden her hat-thing, however.  (Grin.)
