I make an effort to have the Gorgon's hair show her emotions to at least some extent. When she's upset, her snakes tend to be wilder; when she's calm, they tend to be down more. In the last panel of this strip, they're all facing behind her because they're gesturing in the direction of Alassa, eliminating the need for her to do it with her arms. The Gorgon can control her snakes' movement consciously, after all, if she puts in the effort. They're all part of her body, like extra limbs.
