By the way, the fairies may, at one time, have been all tinted the color of their magic, but it isn't common to see that now, except with purple fairies.  Almost all black fairies have green wings; almost all pink fairies have blue ones; and so forth.  But most pink fairies do have pink skin, most black fairies do have black hair, most red fairies do have red eyes, and so forth, which would seem to support the idea that fairies colors may have once referred to appearance, as well as magic color.
