Why does Alexis want to be normal?  Why, because the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.   With a twin sister like X, she's never been able to know what it's like, so of course she desperately wants to try it out.  Especially since X has a way of attracting bizarre people without even trying!  I mean, X hasn't yet had one semester without a weird roommate, even if Aylia was the first one who could do magic.  And plenty of them have been weird in bad ways!
