You'll notice you haven't seen Aylia going into any other forms than human, even though she's obviously capable of transformation magic (at least, judging by how many times she's turned her sister into a cat).  The reason for that is that the spells for transforming yourself into another sentient species are really hard, she has no reason to need them, and she wouldn't want to be in a form that didn't let her use magic, anyway.  Perhaps she'll learn some of them someday, but it wouldn't be for awhile.
