The reason Daria can grin the same way humans do and Cecelia can't is because they're from different dragon races -- similar ones, but there are subtle differences.  A little of it's personal body shape too, of course -- Gavin's the same race as Daria, and he can't grin the same way she does either, though he can come closer than Cecelia.  By the way, the reason Daria's so much smaller than Cecelia isn't racial; Cecelia was tall as a human, so she's large as a dragon.  She's also, relatively, older.
