Yes, Aylia is still a child by law, even though she's now nineteen, and I'll deal with the reasons for that in a future storyline.  Needless to say, this is not something Aylia appreciates, and it's the reason her mother has the right to tell her where to go to school, instead of her being able to decide for herself.  Umbrian laws and customs aren't the same as American ones, after all -- why should they be?
