Why is it that fantasy stories consistently have dozens of kingdoms for humans, and one each for fairies or elves or dwarves or whatever other races might be in their world?  And even worse, why is it that humans will have half a dozen languages, and all the other species only one each?  It's ludicrous.  There are at least as many fairies in Aylia's world as there are humans -- possibly more -- and just because the two species don't often interact doesn't mean they aren't equally important.
