This strip cracks me up.  It took me awhile to figure out what Alassa's ominous birthday present would be, but when I figured it out, it was perfect.  And then the rest of this strip flowed naturally from that!  My husband claims Alassa's words in the last panel are some of his favorites in the whole strip, but I'll confess, I like her father's "reassurance" even better.  Either way, this is a great strip, and I'm glad it turned out the way it did!
