It wasn't at all funny when Cecelia got turned into a dragon and left their home, and I wanted to show that here.  The situation was introduced in a humorous way, of course (Strip #22), but it wasn't at all humorous to their family when it happened.  And since she's still missing, and they don't even know if she's still alive, that would make things worse.  But it would be hardest on King Richard, whose magic caused the problem -- even if the spell he cast wasn't originally his idea.
