I had to include this strip to explain exactly what mermaids are in the magical system of my comic strip -- they aren't sweet and cute and Disney-ish, even though I happen to love A Little Mermaid and numerous other stories with mermaids that are.  These mermaids aren't -- they're a lot closer to the original mermaids of Greek mythology (not that I happen to be overfond of that pantheon).
